XRP futures volume hits a six-month high

Traders came back to XRP derivatives in September. Futures volume reached about $57 billion, the highest in six months, The Crypto Basic reported October 6, citing CryptoQuant data. XRP's price rose about 8% over the same month.

The activity was concentrated. Binance handled $32.4 billion of the total, more than half. Bybit followed at $12.5 billion and OKX at $11.3 billion. Together the three account for nearly all of it.

Rising futures volume means more traders are taking positions with leverage, and that cuts both ways. Leverage magnifies gains when the price moves in a trader's favor and forces liquidations when it does not, so busier futures markets tend to bring sharper moves in either direction.

The figure also needs context. A six-month high sounds strong, but $57 billion is less than a third of the more than $180 billion traded in September 2025. This is a recovery from a quiet stretch, not a return to last year's levels.

Positioning does not point one way either. The aggregate long/short ratio was slightly below 1, while accounts on Binance leaned long. With the largest venue and the wider market on different sides, the numbers show interest returning more clearly than they show conviction.
